Job Description
We're looking for a registered dental hygienist to join our growing team! You’ll complete initial patient screenings, conduct dental cleanings, and assist dentists with examinations and procedures. Responsibilities:
• Use x-ray machines to take photos of the patients’ teeth so the dentist can clearly identify cavities or other oral health issues
• Keep detailed records of each patient’s visit and update their health history
• Provide post-operative health education to patients so they can take practice good dental care at home after procedures
• Explain good oral hygiene techniques to patients of all ages, such as thorough brushing and flossing twice daily
• Check for issues such as gingivitis, periodontitis, or caries so patients can receive care as soon as the problem is identified
Your Responsibilities & Role Impact
As a Registered Dental Hygienist at Michiana Smiles, you will:
• Partner with doctors in creating personalized, comprehensive treatment plans
• Deliver patient education using the AAP (American Academy of Periodontology) guidelines
• Foster long-term patient relationships through trust, empathy, and communication
• Support a preventative-care mindset across all aspects of treatment
• Contribute to a culture that values quality, not just quantity
Qualifications:
• Has dental hygienist licensure in the state where the job is located
• Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and customer service skills
• Clear understanding and commitment to following HIPAA regulations and all safety guidelines
• Valid CPR certification
• At least 1-2 years of experience in dental hygiene
• Active Registered Dental Hygienist license in Indiana • Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited dental hygiene program
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Passion for delivering a best-in-class patient experience
• A growth mindset and commitment to team success
• In-depth knowledge of dental safety regulations and HIPAA regulations
