Position Overview:
The Director of Economic Development will oversee all initiatives related to securing and managing financial incentives that drive the company’s expansion, capital investment, and long-term growth. Serving as the organization’s lead representative to public and private economic development entities, this individual will develop strategies to identify, evaluate, and execute incentive opportunities while ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations and agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary liaison with municipal, regional, and state economic development organizations within the company’s multi-state service area.
Cultivate productive partnerships with government officials, community leaders, agencies, developers, and business stakeholders.
Evaluate development and investment opportunities, providing detailed analysis and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Advise executives on incentive programs, funding options, and associated risks.
Lead all negotiations involving grants, tax incentives, abatements, and related financial agreements.
Maintain detailed records of existing and potential incentive programs, ensuring transparency and compliance with reporting and audit requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, public administration, finance, or a closely related discipline.
5–10 years of leadership experience in economic development, business development, finance, or urban/economic planning.
Strong understanding of public incentive programs, funding mechanisms, and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated success in negotiating and managing incentive agreements for large-scale or complex projects.
Exceptional skills in communication, negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder engagement.
